63rd FUNDING ROUND WILL OPEN 20.9 - 11.10 〰️

If you're a musician in Germany looking to take your career to the next level, securing funding can be a game-changer. In this blog post, we will explore and offer you a pre-filled template at no-cost for the Künstler:innen program, initiated by Initiative Musik, which serves as a catalyst for promoting popular music in Germany.

This renowned program aims to support young talent, showcase German music globally, and foster integration among artists with migration backgrounds.

IMPORTANT REMARK: This program does not fund the total money you request, just 40 to 60 percent. Check our FAQ for more information.

Our template is based on a singer-songwriter and three collaborating musicians for an EP Production, Promotion/Marketing, and Touring.

    • Touring - 60% of the dates must take place within Germany.

  • To qualify for the Kunstler innen program, musicians must meet the following criteria:

    • Main residence in Germany: Artists, or at least half of the band members, must provide proof of their primary residence in Germany.

    • Funding history: Artists who have received funding three times within eight funding rounds are not eligible to apply for the following eight rounds, for a minimum period of two years.

    • European Economic Area: Co-applicant companies must have a registered office within the European Economic Area.

  • In addition to the previous documents, applicants must also include:

    • Project description: Present your funding project as part of a cohesive concept for your professional development as an artist.

    • Artist documentation: Include a short biography, a PressKit, at least one current press-ready photo, three music samples (mp3 demos or previously released works), and optional video recordings.

    • Measurable Goals: In the case of the promotion, for example, this can be sales expectations or streaming numbers, the reach of social media channels (number of followers) or viewer numbers in the case of tour promotion. You will have to select at least 3 of the following:

      • Number of radio presences

      • Number of streams (Album)

If you’re applying for Promotion and Marketing:

    • Marketing and promotion plan (optional)

  • The funding provided through the Kunstler innen program is in the form of deficit funding, with the funding share being degressive based on the total expenditure. Here are the critical points regarding funding volume:

    • Maximum Funding Share: The maximum funding share ranges from 60% to 40% of the total expenditure, depending on the amount of total expenditure.

    • Own Contribution: Applicants are required to provide their own contribution, which ranges from at least 40 percent to at least 60 percent, depending on the total expenditure.

    • Funding Limit: EUR 60,000 per project per year.

    • Minimum Total Expenditure: Total expenditure required for artist funding must be at least EUR 10,000.

    Examples:

With total expenditure of EUR 10,000, the maximum possible funding share is up to 60 percent (EUR 6,000) of the total expenditure. In this case, the own contribution to be proven is at least 40 percent (4,000 EUR).

With total expenditure of EUR 150,000, the maximum possible funding share is up to 40 percent (EUR 60,000) of the total expenditure. In this case, the own contribution to be proven is at least 60 percent (EUR 90,000).
